Frequently asked questions

There are two routes. Most of the range is ordered for you from Japan and arrives in 7–14 working days. Items marked “UK stock” are already here and ship in 1–2 working days. The route is shown on every product page and again in your basket.

Free on orders over £50. Under £50 it is a flat £4.99. The exact charge is shown in your basket and at checkout.

We wait until everything is here and send it as one parcel, so allow 7–14 working days for the whole order. If you need the UK-stock items sooner, place them as a separate order; delivery is charged per order (free over £50).

Yes. When your order ships we email you a tracking link. Please allow 24–48 hours for the first scan to appear.

The UK store delivers to UK addresses, excluding PO boxes and BFPO. If you are elsewhere, email info@britannictrade.co.uk before ordering.

No. Britannic Trade Ltd imports the goods first, so there is nothing to pay on delivery: no customs duty, no import VAT and no courier handling fee. The price at checkout is the full price.

No. The Japan-to-England leg is ours: we clear the goods and then send them on to you with a tracked UK delivery. You only ever see the UK parcel.

Britannic Trade Ltd is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged or shown on our prices, and there is no VAT to add later.

Yes. Britannic Trade Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 12852678, registered office 31a Long Acre, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9LA. You pay in pounds and your order confirmation comes from us, not from a Japanese shop.

You have 14 days from the day your order arrives to change your mind. Return the item unused and in its original packaging and we refund the item price. The full terms are in our refund policy.

Email info@britannictrade.co.uk with your order number and the item you want to return. We reply with the return address and the next steps. Please wait for that reply before sending anything back.

Within 14 days of the item reaching us, to your original payment method. Your bank or card provider may take a few more days to show it.

Email us within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a few photos. We take it up with the supplier and the courier ourselves; you do not need to contact them.

Japanese-market products are made for sale in Japan, so the maker’s UK warranty does not normally apply. Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected: if an item is faulty, contact us and we will put it right.

You get an order-confirmation email straight away. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then email us.

Email info@britannictrade.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number. If we have not yet placed the order with our supplier we can usually change or cancel it; if we have, we will tell you your options, and the 14-day returns policy still applies once it arrives.

Yes. Put at least one rod, one reel and one line in your basket and 10% comes off the combo automatically at checkout. UK delivery addresses only. See the combo deal.

Most of the range is Japanese domestic-market (JDM) tackle: the models, sizes and colourways sold in Japan, bought from Japanese suppliers. A small number of lines come from other suppliers, and every product page shows where that item is ordered from.

Almost everything is available to order and shows “Direct from Japan · 7–14 working days”: we place the order for you, the item comes to us, and we send it on. Only items marked “UK stock” are already here; those ship in 1–2 working days.

JDM stands for Japanese domestic market: gear made for anglers in Japan. It is valued for build quality and for finesse techniques such as LRF, eging and light lure fishing, and many models and sizes are never released in the UK.
